#66 Cool Calm Pete - Modern
The guy who fascinated me with his 2006 album "Lost" is back with an instant underground classic. If you are somehow Def Jux-affiliated, you'll like this one.
Edit: please excuse the bad quality, as it is ripped from a mixtape.

Pop as pop can. Venezuela's finest bandleader Anders Levin does it again. Yerba Buena has already been nominated for a grammy, their new album "Follow Me" is about to be released soon.

#62 Carlton Patterson & King Tubby - Doctorman Skank
Off from the Re-Issue Album "Black And White In Dub".
Black and White in Dub is the sound of Tubby in his prime, working with unsung but very talented producer Carlton Patterson.
And yes, he really invented the remix. Sorry Puffy.

#59 Lupe Fiasco - Us Placers
Sometimes it's really funny, how obviously thoughts can be stolen. I have no problem with the art of sampling itself, but this one goes a little bit too far. Oh, you call it a mash-up? That explains everything...
Thom Yorke deserves the credits for this one.

#58 Collie Buddz - Wild Out
Bermuda-born deejay Collie Buddz who is now based in the US, has been making quite an impact with his tune 'Come Around.' Signed to Sony Music in the US, Collie Buddz is the sole reggae act working with the label at the moment.
This is his actual street single called "Wild out". Not that big like "Come Around" but still a solid clubtrack.

#57 Voxtrot - Kid Gloves
The Stylus Magazine sounds happy, when it comes to this band:
"If the Internet reinvented the idea of the overnight sensation, Voxtrot were some of its first guinea pigs—a bunch of kids in their late teens and early 20s who suddenly found themselves digital darlings off the strength of a couple self-produced, self-released EPs recorded in the sweltering heat of a Texas summer, home on break from college, high off the powerful fumes of first creation. Riding a Belle & Sebastian/Felt/Smiths fixation, baby-faced frontman Ramesh Srivastava synthesized his heroes well, flashing a precocious talent for pairing perfect jangle-pop melodies to strikingly poetic images that belied his youth (“I saw the years go by in triple lines of grey”)."

#56 Jurassic 5 - Hood In The USA (Snippet)
As everybody knows, Jurassic 5 is about to split up. But they do it in style, as this snippet of the first album single proves.

#55 Ulrich Schnauss - Never Be The Same
New record from Junior Boys label mate Ulrich Schnauss. Schnauss is a German musician, producer and remixer. His music is probably best described as a type of minimalist electonic where Schnauss builds on some very lovely sounding ambient soundscapes. Before I begin sounding too Pitchforky here check out a track off the upcoming record.

#52 Fabolous ft. Jay Z & Uncle Murda - Brooklyn
Although the vocalsample kinda kills your nerves, this track is banging. The rap year 2007 finally gains some pace.

#51 Manu Chao - Rainin In Paradize
Criticism itself isn't a bad thing, as too many things go wrong in this world. If that alone legitimates stupid, simplifiying, ridiculous protest songs, Manu Chao's future will be brighter than ever.
So bad, you gotta listen to the lyrics. Although it hurts. A new album is about to drop in september. ouch!

#50 - Wax Tailor - Sometimes
Whenever the press speaks about music, that breaks down barriers, i get sceptical. Wax Tailor doesn't break down any barriers. He sounds like RJD2 and DJ Shadow. And that's not the worst to say about an artist, is it?
